- has photograph: "The interior of the former stables on the west side of the western perimeter road.
This photograph is looking southwest from near the entrance. This was also the fire station (horsedrawn and motor) prior to the opening of the present Central fire station on Shakespeare Street. As can be seen, the yard is used today by the housing Maintainence Department for storing equipment, and as employee's car park.
Text supplied by the photographer, Reg Baker, at the time the photograph was taken, in 1977."
